Port-day guide What Ephesus costs
Ephesus Ticket Prices for a Port Day, Site by Site
Every ticket at Ephesus and its nearby sites is priced by the Ministry, not by any tour, and the total changes depending on which sites your day includes.
The short answer
Ephesus Ancient City costs €40 per adult, the Terrace Houses add €15, the Basilica of St. John is €6 and the Ephesus Museum in Selçuk is €10; the Temple of Artemis entrance is included in our tours. Prices were checked against the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in September 2026 and are paid in Turkish lira or by card, not euro cash. Children 7 and under enter Ephesus free.

What does each Ephesus-area ticket cost?
These are the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's own prices, checked in September 2026. Ticket booths take Turkish lira at the day's exchange rate or a card; they do not take euro cash, even though prices are set in euros.
| Site | Adult price | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Ephesus Ancient City | €40 | Children 7 and under free; full price from age 8 |
| Terrace Houses | +€15 | Always a separate ticket; no Museum Pass covers it |
| House of the Virgin Mary | about €15 | Priced in Turkish lira; no Museum Pass accepted |

| Ephesus Museum, Selçuk | €10 | Museum Pass Türkiye accepted |

| Isa Bey Mosque | Free | Closed to visitors during prayer times |
What time do the ticket booths open and close?
Ephesus itself is open 08:00 to 18:45, with the Lower Gate booth selling tickets until 19:00 and the Upper Gate booth until 18:00; the Terrace Houses open an hour later, at 09:00, and close at 18:00. The Basilica of St. John runs 08:00 to 19:00 and the Ephesus Museum in Selçuk 08:30 to 20:00. The House of the Virgin Mary is managed separately from the Ministry's museums and runs about 08:00 to 18:00 in season. See which gate suits your plan for how the two Ephesus booths compare.

Every tour is private and priced from €33 per person for groups of 8 or more; smaller groups get a private quote. Any group size: 1 to 52 people per coach, and more coaches for larger groups. Entrance tickets are extra, at the official price.
How much should you budget for each of our tours?
Our tours themselves start from €33 per person for groups of 8 or more; smaller groups get a private quote, and your exact total comes back with our reply. Entrance tickets are separate and paid at the gate. Here is what each tour typically needs:
| Tour | Tickets to budget for |
|---|---|
| The Open-Air Circle | None: this route stays outside the ticketed sites |
| Just Ephesus | €40 (Ephesus only) |
| All-Aboard Ephesus | At least €40 (Ephesus); more if your hours allow the Terrace Houses, the Basilica of St. John or the House of the Virgin Mary |
| Marble, Mosaics and Artemis | €55 (Ephesus plus the Terrace Houses) |
| The Road of Paul and John | About €61 (Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John) |
| Your Ship, Your Day | Whichever sites make your list |
Do children pay full price?
At Ephesus, children 7 and under go in free, and full price applies from age 8. We have a confirmed children's rate only for Ephesus itself; the other sites' family pricing was not part of what we checked, so budget the adult price for older children at those sites until we can confirm otherwise. If you are traveling with young children, our page on Ephesus with kids covers the rest of planning a day with them.
Does a Museum Pass Turkiye help?
Yes, at two of the five sites: the Basilica of St. John and the Ephesus Museum in Selçuk both accept the pass. It does not cover the Terrace Houses inside Ephesus or the House of the Virgin Mary; both charge their own ticket regardless. Mention a pass you already hold when you inquire, and we will only buy what it does not cover.
Why book a private tour if tickets cost extra either way?
Because the ticket price is the same whether you walk up alone or arrive with us: it is set by the Ministry, not by any tour operator, and no one marks it up. What our price covers is different: a licensed guide, a private air-conditioned vehicle, fuel, parking, tolls, travel insurance and having your tickets bought in advance so you are not standing in the ticket-booth line on a short call. See how skip-the-line tickets work for more on that, or send us your ship's hours through our inquiry form and we will tell you which tour fits.
Questions cruise guests ask us
How much is the entrance fee for Ephesus?
€40 per adult for Ephesus Ancient City, checked against the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in September 2026. Children 7 and under go in free; full price applies from age 8.
Is the Terrace Houses ticket included in the Ephesus ticket?
No. The Terrace Houses are always a separate ticket, an additional €15 on top of the €40 Ephesus ticket, whether you buy at the gate or have it bought for you in advance.
How much does the House of the Virgin Mary cost?
About €15, priced in Turkish lira rather than euros since it is managed separately from the Ministry's museums. No Museum Pass is accepted there.
Does the Museum Pass Turkiye cover Ephesus?
It covers the Basilica of St. John and the Ephesus Museum in Selçuk. It does not cover the Terrace Houses or the House of the Virgin Mary, both bought separately no matter what pass you hold.
Is the Temple of Artemis entrance included?
Yes. The entrance is included in every tour of ours that stops there. The site is open ground beside the road, unlike the sites managed by the Ministry or by Vakiflar.
