Azamara's calls at Kusadasi run longer than most lines at this port, on two small ships that give a slower kind of day.

The short answer

Azamara's ships dock alongside at Kusadasi for longer than most: three of the four calls we track run from about 08:00 to 22:00, close to fourteen hours ashore, with one shorter call at around nine hours. A day that long comfortably fits our Road of Paul and John tour, or a custom full day covering several sites, with real time left over before a late all-aboard.

Why an Azamara call runs longer than most

Azamara builds its schedules around staying in port later than most lines, and Kusadasi is no exception. Three of the four calls we track run from about 08:00 to 22:00, close to fourteen hours ashore; the fourth, at nine hours, is still a full day by most standards. Azamara has said publicly that more than half its port time across the fleet is late-night or overnight, and this call length fits that pattern.

For you, that means far less pressure on the clock than a typical eight-hour stop.

The two ships you'll likely be on

Azamara Onward accounts for three of the four calls we track; Azamara Quest makes up the fourth. Both are similar-sized ships from the same era, each carrying under 900 guests, and both dock alongside at Kusadasi's pier like every ship here.

A private guide and vehicle sized to your group works the same whichever ship brought you in.

A long day gives you room for more

With nine to fourteen hours ashore, a single quick stop at Ephesus leaves a lot of the day unused. Our Road of Paul and John tour, at six to seven hours, still leaves room to add the Terrace Houses or simply slow down: a longer lunch, more time at the Library of Celsus, less watching the clock.

If you would rather build the day yourself, our Your Ship, Your Day tour lets you pick the stops and set the pace.

Some Azamara nights include an evening ashore

On cruises of nine nights or longer, Azamara usually arranges one complimentary evening ashore for its guests, part of a program it calls AzAmazing Evenings; on seven- and eight-night cruises the same event is held onboard instead. This is the ship's own event, separate from anything we run, and it is worth checking your cruise length against Azamara's own terms if you are hoping for one.

It is also a good reason a long Kusadasi call can run all the way to 22:00: your ship may simply be staying for the evening rather than an early departure.

Accessibility and pace on an Azamara day

Azamara grades its own shore excursions by activity level and runs a separate process for guests who need an accessible tour. On our end, a wheelchair user can enter Ephesus at the Lower Gate and return to the Lower Gate, seeing the lower part of the ancient city without the steps further up.

Tell us in advance if mobility is a factor, and we will plan the stops and the pace around it rather than the other way around.

What to tell us when you inquire

Send us your ship's name and the arrival and all-aboard times from your Azamara daily program, along with your group size and what you most want to see. We plan every day backward from your all-aboard time, which matters even more on a long Azamara call.

Questions cruise guests ask us

Does Azamara include shore excursions?

No, not as a rule. Azamara's fares do not include day tours, though guests on cruises of nine nights or longer usually get one complimentary evening ashore through its AzAmazing Evenings program, and seven- or eight-night cruises get the same event onboard instead. Day tours like ours are booked and paid for separately.

How much are Azamara's shore excursions?

We don't set Azamara's onboard excursion prices, so check your ship's excursion desk for the current rate. Our own private tours start from €33 per person for groups of 8 or more; smaller groups get a private quote, with your exact total in our reply.

What time does Azamara dock at Kusadasi?

Most of the calls we track run from about 08:00 to 22:00, close to fourteen hours ashore; one shorter call runs about nine hours. Your ship's daily program has the exact time for your sailing.

Which Azamara ships call at Kusadasi?

Mostly Azamara Onward, with Azamara Quest making up the rest of the calls we track. Both are similar-sized ships that dock alongside the same pier as every ship here.

Are Ephesus tours wheelchair accessible for Azamara guests?

Partly. A wheelchair user can enter Ephesus at the Lower Gate and return to the Lower Gate, covering the lower part of the ancient city; the Terrace Houses are not accessible at all. Tell us about mobility needs when you inquire and we will plan around them.
