Carnival calls at Kuşadası only twice on our full year of published schedules, both times on Greek Isles, Turkey and Italy cruises sailing from Civitavecchia.
The short answer
Carnival calls at Kuşadası only twice on our current schedule, once in October on Carnival Legend and once in September on Carnival Sunshine, both on Greek Isles, Turkey and Italy cruises out of Civitavecchia. Both calls run nine to ten hours, arriving as early as 07:00 and sailing again by evening. That is enough time for Ephesus plus the Terrace Houses or the House of the Virgin Mary, not just a quick look.
Why a Carnival call is rare here
Of every cruise line with its own page on this site, Carnival calls at Kuşadası the least often: twice across our full year of published schedules, once on Carnival Legend and once on Carnival Sunshine. Both calls sit on Greek Isles, Turkey and Italy repositioning cruises sailing out of Civitavecchia, the kind of itinerary that swaps in different ports as ships move between seasons.
If you are one of the guests on one of these two calls, Kuşadası and Ephesus are not a stop your ship visits every cruise, so it is worth planning the day well rather than leaving it for onboard.
Kuşadası or Izmir, check your own program
Carnival's own itinerary pages do not always use the same port name for the same Ephesus stop: some sailings list Kuşadası, and at least one similar Turkey-and-Greek-Isles itinerary from the same home port lists Izmir instead, for what appears to be the same inland visit to Ephesus. If your Carnival cruise documents say Izmir rather than Kuşadası, check your ship's daily program before you plan, since the two are separate ports with a different drive to Ephesus.

Carnival's own excursions to Ephesus
Carnival sells several of its own named tours to Ephesus, from an easy panoramic Kuşadası drive of three to five hours up to longer options such as a full Biblical Ephesus day, each rated by activity level so guests can judge how much walking to expect. Guests under eighteen must be accompanied by an adult on any of them, and Carnival's own tours are run by local operators under contract to the cruise line, not by Carnival itself. Booking ahead of sailing is the simplest route, since a change made once onboard can carry a cancellation charge.
That is a genuinely good option for a first look at Ephesus. A private day changes the group size and the pace rather than the destination.
What fits a nine to ten hour Carnival day
Both Carnival calls on our schedule run nine to ten hours, enough time for The Road of Paul and John, which adds the House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John to Ephesus itself, or Marble, Mosaics and Artemis, which goes deeper into Ephesus with the Terrace Houses instead. Both walk down from the Upper Gate to the Lower Gate, where your driver and vehicle are waiting, so a shorter tour would leave hours unused on a day this long.
What to tell us when you inquire
Tell us which ship, Legend or Sunshine, and your port's confirmed name and times from Carnival's own program. We plan the day backward from your all-aboard time and reply through our inquiry form within 24 hours. If you would rather compare Carnival's own excursions against a private day first, see our page on choosing between the two.

Questions cruise guests ask us
Where does Carnival dock in Kuşadası?
At Kuşadası Cruise Port's main pier, the same berth used by other large ships; tendering is possible at this port but rare, and ships this size normally dock alongside. We meet you at the port: your guide waits right outside the terminal exit with a sign showing your name, so it takes about a minute to meet up once you step out.
How much do Carnival's own Kuşadası excursions cost?
That is set and booked through Carnival directly, not through us, so we do not publish their prices. Our own private tours start from €33 per person for groups of 8 or more; smaller groups get a private quote, with the exact total confirmed in our reply to your inquiry.
Is Kuşadası worth visiting on a Carnival cruise?
Yes. It is the gateway to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities on the Mediterranean, and Carnival's own nine to ten hour calls here leave a full day to see it properly, whether with Carnival's tour or a private one.
Is my Carnival port stop called Kuşadası or Izmir?
Check your ship's own program. Some Carnival Turkey-and-Greek-Isles itineraries list the same Ephesus stop under Izmir rather than Kuşadası. The two are separate ports with a different drive to Ephesus, so confirm the name before you plan your day.
Info Ephesus is an independent, TÜRSAB-licensed local operator. We are not affiliated with Carnival; the name is used only to show which ships call at Kuşadası.
