Virgin Voyages is one of the rarer callers at Kusadasi, and its adults-only sailings suit a slower, grown-up pace at Ephesus. One ship, a handful of calls a year, and about nine hours to use well.

The short answer

Virgin Voyages calls Kusadasi only a few times a year, always with its ship Scarlet Lady, and always between May and September. Guests typically have about nine hours ashore, arriving between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and sailing again by 6:00 p.m. That fits our Ephesus Ancient City tour or the Terrace Houses and Artemis tour comfortably, with time built in before all-aboard.

Virgin Voyages is a rare, single-ship caller at Kusadasi

Of the 491 cruise calls we track at Kusadasi over the coming year, only five belong to Virgin Voyages, all of them the line's ship Scarlet Lady. Every one of those calls falls between May and September; there is nothing on the current schedule outside that window.

Virgin Voyages sails as an adults-only line, which tends to make for a different rhythm ashore than a family sailing: no need to plan around a children's museum stop or split the group by age, just one pace for everyone in your party. It also means we rarely get asked for stroller-friendly routes or kid-length stops on a Virgin Voyages day, so the itinerary can move at whatever speed your own group prefers.

What a Virgin Voyages day ashore looks like

On the calls we can see times for, Scarlet Lady arrives at Kusadasi between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning and sails again by 6:00 in the evening, giving guests about nine hours ashore. That is a shorter window than some of the port's regular callers, but it is enough for a full Ephesus visit if the day is planned around it rather than improvised on the pier.

The ship docks alongside the pier the same as every other line here, so there is no tender ride to add to the morning.

Which of our tours fits a nine-hour call

Just Ephesus runs 3 to 3.5 hours door to door and leaves a wide margin either side; Marble, Mosaics and Artemis runs 5.5 to 6.5 hours and still fits within nine with room to spare for lunch in town afterward. Both are built around the roughly 20 to 25 minute drive each way between the port and the site.

We plan the return leg backward from your actual all-aboard time, not a generic figure, so the same tour can run a little differently depending on which of the five calls you happen to be on.

A quieter caller, but not always a quiet day

A single ship with one call at a time sounds like an easy morning, and usually it is. But Kusadasi can still be a busy port on the day Scarlet Lady is in: on one of this ship's 2027 calls, it shares the pier with AIDAblu, Odyssey Of The Seas and Viking Sea, four ships at once. We check the full schedule for your date rather than assume a rare caller means an empty terminal.

That matters most at the start and end of the day, when several ships' passengers can be moving through the terminal at the same time. It rarely changes how long the drive to Ephesus takes, since that road is separate from the port itself, but it can add a few minutes to the walk off the ship.

Book through us, not instead of the app

Whatever Virgin Voyages offers through its own app for a Kusadasi day is separate from what we offer; you would choose one or the other, since both use the same hours ashore. Nothing about booking with us affects anything you have arranged through the ship.

Send us your ship's name, sailing date and all-aboard time and we will confirm a plan built around that specific call. Nothing is paid in advance, and we reply within 24 hours.
